Roy Williams fined for horse-collar tackle
Good boneheaded stuff here — back in 2005, the NFL outlawed
horse-collar tackles because they are too dangerous. Cowboys safety Roy Williams would make these tackles all the time — so much so, that the tackle was known to be named after him. As a matter of fact, it’s known as the “Roy Williams Rule” that players cannot tackle in this manner. So guess what happens? The man himself, Roy Williams, makes a horse-collar tackle on the Bears’ Desmond Clark last week! Williams was fined $12,500, and he was also fined $10,000 last year for a tackle on Tiki Barber. I guess Williams can’t get it out of his system, but he’d better if he wants to avoid more of these fines for boneheadedness!
UPDATE — Williams was fined $15,000 on Friday for another horse-collar tackle on Bills running back Marshawn Lynch!
