NBA Ref Donaghy bet on games he called
Controversy hit the NBA big time when the FBI helped flush out the fact that referee Tim Donaghy bet on games that he called the last 2 seasons, even making calls during the games that might ultimately affect the outcome of one team covering the spread! He resigned on July 9, pleading guilty on August 15 to the charges. This is almost beyond boneheaded — this is scary. If one ref got away with this for so long, how many other cases of game-tampering might have occurred that we don’t even know about? Yikes.
