Kobe Bryant — sexual assault?
Kobe made headlines for all the wrong reasons in the summer of 2003 when he was accused of raping a woman in his hotel room in Colorado. The oft-idolized NBA star had to admit to having sex with the woman, but adamantly insisted that the encounter was consensual. The case obviously tore into his credibility as an icon. During the trial hearings, the credibility of Katelyn Faber was brought into question, and then before the case was to go to trial, Bryant and she settled on a civil lawsuit over the incident, saving Bryant any further exposure. It’s a shame that any man would do such a boneheaded act to begin with, but when you have the star-status that Kobe has, it’s a catastrophe.
