Upton slides dirty, fans act dirty

A bonehead slide by Arizona outfielder Justin Upton caused quite a stir during Game 1 of the NLCS last night. Having been hit by a pitch from Jeff Francis, Upton stared down Francis on his way to first, clearly upset. With runners on first and second, a ground ball was fielded and flipped to Kazuo Matsui at second base. Upton slid into second, but then he went out of his way to throw his arm and shoulder into the legs of Matsui to break up the double play. The dirty slide by Upton resulted in not only him being called out, but the batter was called out too since the ump awarded a double play. The call was fair, because Upton’s slide was dirty and dangerous. The Arizona fans didn’t think so, as they threw water bottles and other garbage onto the field, causing the Colorado players to have to leave the field until order was restored. So to Justin Upton and the Arizona fans, welcome to the world of bonehead!
