Mets and Marlins brawl!

Mets and Marlins brawl!Every day is an adventure for the frustrated Mets, and today was no exception — but we’llMets and Marlins brawl! focus on the bonehead activities, as usual. First, Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson became irate when Florida pitcher Harvey Garcia threw behind Mets hitter Luis Castillo. Peterson was making gestures towards the Marlins‘ bench as both benches cleared in the 5th inning, but no further developments happened here.

Castillo walked, and the Marlins paused the game for a pitching change. As this is going on, Jose Reyes (who was on third base) and Miguel Olivo (who was on the mound) are yapping at each other. Something set off Olivo, who charged at Reyes and took a swing at him! The two were held back and it appeared that no other punches were thrown; Olivo was ejected. No one will probably know exactly what Reyes said to instigate Olivo, but kudos to the Mets for having the cooler heads in the midst of a playoff run and making Olivo out to be the bonehead punch-thrower!
