Brewers retaliate to failure

-->

Ned Yost and Brewers retaliate and loseSo you are 2 games out of first place in the NL Central. You know the 1st place Cubs have already lost so a win puts you within a game. You trail the struggling Cardinals 3-2 in the Top of the 8th. Earlier in the game, Prince Fielder was hit with a pitch that you feel was intentional. Nobody out - nobody on in the 8th. Albert Pujols comes to the plate. What do you do?

Well, the Brewers decided Wednesday night that retaliation was more important than winning the NL Central. They opted to retaliate and purposely hit Albert Pujols and give him a free base. MISTAKE! The Cardinals made them pay by tagging on 4 more runs in that inning all but ruining the Brewers chances at the NL Central title. WHY? We understand that retaliation might be necessary, but in the middle of a pennant race? Think about it!!! Suck it up, get the guys out, and retaliate next year if you absolutely have to.

We’re going to call out manager of the Milwaukee Brewers NED YOST as the bonehead in this one. McClung was just doing what he was told. But as manager of the team you have to do what is right for your team. Suck up your pride and win the game! Sucks to be the Brewers tonight. But hey, maybe you boneheads feel better because you hit Albert Pujols. Hopefully we’ll have some postgame comments to add to this later.

Update 9/27/2007: McClung was suspended 3 games and Yost was suspended one game as the commissioner’s office concluded that the bean ball was intentional.

Update 9/29/2007: The MLB removed McClungs 3 game suspension.
