I applaud the man’s effort in this situation, but Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Joel Zumaya wasn’t very careful when helping his parents evacuate their house due to the California wildfires.  Zumaya went up to the attic to grab some things for his father when a big box fell on him, severely injuring his pitching shoulder.  Now Zumaya needs surgery, and he may not be able to pitch at all in 2008.  This is a huge blow to the Tigers, and it’s a shame that a boneheaded injury caused it.
