Leon Lett Thanksgiving Muff

Leon Lett Thanksgiving MuffThe second of two giant boneheaded plays in Leon Lett’s career came the season after his Super Bowl showboat fumble. On Thanksgiving Day in November, 1993, Lett and his Cowboys led 14-13 as Miami was attempting a go-ahead field goal near the end of the game. The Cowboys blocked the kick, and all they had to do was let the ball die so they would take over possession and win the game. Lett, meanwhile, scampers after the ball, sliding towards it in an attempt to scoop it up or fall on it. Lett ends up booting it, making it a live ball, and Miami recovers! Miami then went on to kick the winning field goal, with Lett’s gaffe costing his team the game – truly one of the great boneheaded plays in NFL history.
