Leon Lett Super Bowl Showboat Fumble

Leon Lett Super Bowl Showboat FumbleOne of the most famous boneheaded plays in sports history happened during Super Bowl XXVII in 1993. Leon Lett picked up a Buffalo fumble and made his way towards the endzone, a TD imminent. Well, as Lett neared the goal line, he slowed to a trot and extended the ball out to the side to showboat across the line. Little did Lett know that Don Beebe was hustling after him, and Beebe knocked the ball out of the back of the endzone for a touchback just before Lett crossed the goal line! The blunder didn’t cost Dallas the game, as they won in a rout, but Lett made a fool of himself on a national stage. He’ll be remembered more for this fumble than for his positive contributions to the team. Way to go, Leon.
